Q&A with Jamie Anderson
Jamie is an APU Manager for RF&I at Radiall Connecticut.
Q. How long have you worked at Radiall?
I have been with Radiall for 18 years.
Q. Can you tell us more about your role?
I recently stepped into the role of APU Manager for RF&I at Radiall Connecticut (RCT).
Q. What is a typical day like for you at Radiall?
No two days are exactly the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the role. A typical day includes monitoring production progress to ensure we are meeting customer commitments, working with the sales and engineering teams to prepare for upcoming orders, supporting our quality team in resolving challenges, and collaborating with our RF&I colleagues in Obregon to align on priorities and share best practices. It's a highly collaborative environment that requires constant communication and teamwork.
Q. What are the biggest challenges you encounter in your role?
One of the biggest challenges is balancing our on-time delivery (OTD) objectives while maintaining our non-quality cost (NQC) goals. As our product portfolio continues to grow, it's also important to ensure we have the right workforce in place and provide ongoing training so our teams have the skills and knowledge needed to support new products and evolving customer requirements.
Q. What has been the most rewarding project you've worked on?
One of the most rewarding projects was leading the implementation of the SHF cable assembly product line at RCT in 2014 and 2015. It was a significant effort that required collaboration across multiple teams, and it's been incredibly rewarding to see it grow into the largest product line within RF&I at RCT. Seeing the long-term impact of that project makes it a career highlight.
Q. What are the qualities that make a high-performing production team?
A high-performing production team is built on strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to working together toward shared goals. Clear communication, thorough preparation, continuous learning, and a willingness to support one another are all essential. When everyone is aligned and focused on delivering the best possible results, the team is able to overcome challenges and consistently perform at a high level.
