Fernando is a Manufacturing Process Engineer at Radiall Obregon.

Q. How long have you worked at Radiall?

I have been with Radiall for 8 years.

Q. Can you tell us more about your role?

As a Process Engineer, my role is to ensure our manufacturing operations run efficiently, reliably and consistently meet quality requirements within our control structure. I'm also responsible for supporting the transfer of new products from other manufacturing sites, making sure each transition is executed successfully so we can begin production at our site. In addition, I contribute to improvement projects focused on efficiency, quality and overall performance.

Q. What is a typical day like for you at Radiall?

Every day is different, but my main focus is supporting production and improving manufacturing processes. I work closely with operators, production supervisors, quality control and maintenance to solve technical issues, optimize performance, implement changes and ensure we meet safety, quality and productivity targets. I also support new product and process transfers, including documentation updates and performance optimization, for initiatives focused on efficiency and quality.

Q. What are the biggest challenges you encounter in your role?

One of the biggest challenges is balancing production demands while implementing process improvements. We need to resolve issues quickly without impacting delivery, while making sure any changes improve quality, efficiency and repeatability. Another challenge is transferring new products and processes successfully while maintaining consistent performance, sometimes on a tight timeline. Meeting customer demand under those conditions can be a challenge, but it's one we always take on.

Q. What has been the most rewarding project you've worked on?

I’ve had the opportunity to work on several projects that have delivered adequate results and it has always been very rewarding to see the impact of that work. For example, I’ve been involved in various transfers, as well as projects focused on increasing yield in different processes.

However, the most rewarding project for me so far is the OSA Duplication Program, which is currently in progress. The goal is to transfer active products to our site, and it is a very exciting project because of its size, complexity and importance to the company. Being part of this project and contributing to building these new capabilities at our site has been a very rewarding experience.

Q. What are the qualities that make a high-performing production team?

A high-performing production team is built on collaboration, communication and accountability. Everyone should understand the process, be willing to share ideas and work together to solve problems. Continuous learning, attention to quality and a drive to always improve are also essential for achieving consistent results.

Q. What makes working at Radiall unique?

What makes Radiall unique is the combination of advanced technology, strong teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement. Employees have opportunities to work on challenging collaboration projects, collaborate with international teams and contribute to innovative solutions in highly demanding industries. It's an environment where people are encouraged to learn, grow and make a real impact. One of the strengths I recognize in this company is the project management structure, which helps keep cross-functional projects organized and ensures clear communication across teams.
