Radiall: Past, Present & Future

It was 1952 when two brothers, Yvon and Lucien Gattaz, decided to begin a company that would come to be known as Radiall. Yvon’s entrepreneurial spirit manifested as he took the lead in the business end of the company, focusing on the financial and commercial aspects, while Lucien was the inventor with an interest in research and production. Their combined efforts created a company that would become known globally for its technical innovation in industries like aerospace, military defense, telecom and more.

Where It All Began

In the 1950s, France was working on becoming a world leader in television. To aid in this effort, the Gattaz brothers worked to develop an affordable connector that would link a television monitor with an antenna, and production began on their first commercial coaxial cable. Their innovative designs would continue into the 1960s with other coaxial products, such as the Mini Quick coaxial connector. Over the years the Gattaz family would begin to expand their production across France while also working to build a European sales network.

Through the 1970s, Radiall diversified its product interests in other areas such as fiber optics, as well as expanding into industries such as aerospace and defense. The 1980s saw continued growth, with Radiall offices opening in the United States, Latin America and East Asia.

In the 1990s, Yvon’s son Pierre took over as the company's CEO, and Radiall remains family-owned to this day. Over the years, our efforts at diversification have led to the acquisitions of several companies with a focus on different industries, such as Raydiall (automotive connectors), VanSystem (railway), and, most recently, Timbercon (fiber optics).
