Interview with Jennifer Guerrera – HR Generalist at Radiall

Q.Let’s get right to it. What do successful job candidates do in their interviews that makes them stand out to you?

A.Successful job candidates come into the interview energetic and prepared, by putting the effort into getting to know Radiall. They ask questions about the position they are interviewing for and give specific examples of why they are the right person for the job.

Q.What’s the best way for a candidate to communicate their strengths?

A.Give specific examples of your previous experiences that directly relates to the role you are interviewing for. For example, if the job is for a management position, tell me how you’ve handled situations to give me an idea of how you’d face certain challenges. I want to know how effective you will be in the role and if you would be a fit culturally for Radiall.

Q.What’s one of your favorite interview questions? And what are you looking for when you ask it?

A.One of my favorite questions to ask a candidate is “Tell me about a specific situation in which you had to adjust to changes over which you had no control and how did you handle it?” I want to know how adaptable someone is to a changing environment. Changes are a part of life but it’s how they’re adapted to and managed that I’m interested in.

Q.What are some tips for making a good impression during a phone interview?

A.Enthusiasm and preparedness are important in making a good impression over the phone. Show you are interested in the company and the role by doing your research beforehand. Focus on the phone interview by eliminating distractions. This is your opportunity to make a first impression and the focus should be solely on that conversation.

Q.What's the best question someone has asked you at the end of an interview?

A."What keeps you at Radiall and what do you like most about working here?" This question shows me that the candidate is interested to know more about the company and its culture.

Q.From the perspective of a HR generalist, what’s your best advice for job interviewees?

A.Be prepared! Dress appropriately for the interview. Have questions ready that will help you learn more about the expectations for the role and have examples to show why you are the best person for the role. Make sure to get the interviewers information to send a thank you email.
