Expanding Opportunities with Diversification

At Radiall, diversification is all about increasing opportunity for our customers, our distributors and our company. In recent years, we have looked toward new and complementary markets to increase the reach of our products. In 2021, we appointed Guillaume Gattaz to dedicate his time to these opportunities. Since then, we have seen our products used in medical devices, industrial applications, new aerospace projects like urban air mobility and more.

Medical industry applications: Since the 1970s, cochlear implants (CI) have been used to help with hearing loss. To make this technology possible, RF connectors and cables are needed for the link between magnetic antenna and sound processor. Radiall connectors, while not specifically designed for the medical industry, have successfully been used in CI applications: MC-CARD is a microminiature snap-on connector with 5,000 mating cycles and MOEBIUS is a microminiature snap-on connector with 25,000 mating cycles.

Aside from CI devices, Radiall and Timbercon products include non magnetic RF coaxial connectors and cable assemblies, fiber optic assemblies and customized fiber connectors. Each of these products have the potential to be used in medical applications like MRIs, biomedical devices and more.

Defense industry applications: In the defense industry, Radiall products are known for rugged reliability that is critical for the harsh environments in which defense and military organizations operate. New opportunities are beginning to arise with the latest in radar, satcom and drone defense technology. Some of these new defense applications require multi signal rackable connectors with high density capabilities. Radiall solutions can provide full modularity with solutions like the EPX range and the synergy of the full product range including multipin, RF coaxial connectors and fiber optic cable assemblies.

Potential new industries: Quantum computing is an up and coming technology that relies on routing RF signals to and from each qubit at extremely cold temperatures with as little environmental interference as possible to preserve signal integrity. These powerful new computers can use semi-rigid cables, non magnetic RF connectors, as well as microwave switches and attenuators suited for cryogenic environments, to operate effectively.

While Radiall products have been used in space since the 1970s, there are several new space applications that have the potential to use additional Radiall solutions in space. These applications might need higher density and lower weight connectors or cables that can endure the harsh conditions in space. Radiall's range of products come backed by the technical support of experts with slim form factors, quick blind mating and tool-less installation.
