A Custom Solution to Simplify Installation in Railway

A major player in the railway market was using a legacy connector series, so Radiall’s team approached the customer about a new technical solution that could optimize their design, simplify mounting and reduce installation time. The customized solution was easy to order, easy to install and came with reduced lead times. All of this proved good for the environment as well, with time and weight savings for transportation. 

Radiall’s engineering and sales teams proposed railway three pole power connectors included three-pole connectors to be used in undercar motor - bogie - to catenary on a tramway. This new solution reduced the number of parts needed to order, unpack and install, simplifying the entire process. 

This customized technical solution includes conductive plating, allowing the customer to easily install this connector on the undercar application without the use of brackets. This was made possible because the customer did not need to install a grounding wire, instead using the conductive plating for the installation. 

Because this installation process was new, Radiall created a full installation manual to aid in the simplification of their installation.
