Coaxial Power Dividers

February 2017- Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, has a new range of power dividers for defense and instrumentation applications. This new comprehensive microwave solution, combines mechanical robustness and high electrical performance up to 26.5 GHz.

Designed for military systems like airborne/ground radar and instrumentation equipment (rf bench test), this new range of products offers high RF performance in terms of VSWR, maximum power and admissible phase. This makes them perfectly suitable for integration in systems that require power division or combination of radio frequency signals. The range is MIL STD202 compliant in order to provide reliable environmental performance.

The full range of power dividers includes:

  • 220 MHz to 26.5 GHz frequency available

To support the need for high voltage coaxial connectors in the Industrial market, Radiall's comprehensive range offers a variety of product solutions with performance up to 20 KV.

This new high voltage series offers a screw-on and bayonet coupling mechanism and is fully compliant to applicable international standards. BNC HT / MHV is also fully compliant to MHV standards and compatible with existing BNC HT and offers similar performance benefits of BNC HT in order to serve MHV.

V-Band mmWave Antennas

January 2016 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, has developed a new V-Band antenna, specifically for telecom applications and for integration into small cells, backhaul, fronthaul or WiGig radio systems. This highly directional antenna meets market needs by providing high gain from 57 to 66 GHz in a small form factor.

The unique features offered in V-Band antennas, help to facilitate quick and easy alignment between radio units (optical technology or not), which is mandatory for applications such as small cells, backhaul/fronthaul links and WiGig. This solution also features transmit array technology embedded in the mmWave antenna, which enables quick customization of the antenna radiating pattern at a low cost. This significantly helps radio manufacturers to easily integrate the antenna into V-Band systems

This new outdoor antenna solution is tested per IEC 60068-2 environmental standard and is IP67 rated. The electrical design of the product makes it compliant with ETSI class 2.

The numerous benefits in this innovative solution, provides aircraft manufacturers a way to easily reduce the overall cost of the aircraft.

Lightweight Solution: iEPX offers more than 40% weight savings in comparison to a standard EPXB2 shell equipped with a backshell which helps to reduce the overall cost of ownership of the aircraft.

Simplified Design: iEPX enables customers to stock only one part in strain relief configuration, with no removable parts other than the backshell itself. The innovative design of iEPX helps to prevent FOD and reduces the cost of stock.

Quick and Easy Installation: No additional part needs to be fixed to the connector when strain relief is required. The unique T-shape also facilitates rear wiring. With only one backshell to fix and press-in on the integrated strain relief, iEPX is simple to terminate and ultimately helps to reduce assembly costs.

Radiall chooses Ze-Watt to develop the use of electrical and hybrid vehicles for its employees

November 28th, 2016 – Ze-Watt offers companies and employees the opportunity to adopt a mobility without any CO2 emission, by offering a charging service for electrical vehicles at the workplace. As part of its approach to promote environmentally responsible habits among its employees, Radiall, a global manufacturer of leading edge interconnection solutions, has chosen to rely on Ze-Watt solutions. This partnership results in the installation of charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles (two-wheeled vehicles, cars) at Radiall’s production sites in Château-Renault (Touraine) and Voreppe (Isère), at the beginning of November.

An innovative and environmentally responsible approach

Ze-Watt offers companies and organizations an all-inclusive offer which includes installation and the management of the recharging stations as well as all the services and the maintenance related to the infrastructure. The working process is very simple: employees register on Ze-Watt’s website, and then receive a badge to identify them prior to reloading their vehicles. The amount of energy consumed is directly debited from their account with Ze-Watt for a price equivalent to the electricity the French company, EDF, sells to private households. This means, Radiall does not benefit in any way when offering its employees the possibility to benefits from energy at a very competitive price. The company gives Ze-Watt the entire management of these new services.

A new step toward the factory of the future for Radiall

Partnering with Ze-Watt for the installation of this innovative service is part of the transformation project implemented at Radiall, which is designed to reinforce its initiatives in order to reduce its environmental impact.

“Among the axes of our Radiall 2025 transformation project, the factory of the future aims to inject the use of new technologies into our practices and to ensure our production sites are more connected and more respectful of the environment” explains Philippe Dubreuil, in charge of the Industrial Operations and the Factory of the Future project. “At both our facilities in Touraine and in Isère, our 850 employees now have new alternatives of their choice for their vehicles and they can act as active contributors in our transformation.”

This deployment is part of a long-term transformation project initiated by Radiall, and in line with its CSR policy (Corporate Social Responsibility) “Better Connected” policy launched last September.

“We are delighted to accompany Radiall in this phase of evolution towards the factory of the future. As many companies, Radiall has well understood that the use of fossil fuels must be reduced, and that this involves promoting alternatives such as the use of electromobility. Everyone is concerned: future customers, suppliers, potential new employees… Millenials, in particular, is very attentive to the commitments companies undertake in this field” concludes Eric Gaigneux, President and co-founder of Ze-Watt.

Radiall and Ze-Watt plan to strengthen this partnership in the coming years. The implementation on these two facilities of the Radiall Group will be followed by an analysis of the employees’ uses, which is the first step to a deployment on the other facilities of the Radiall Group, or even to its foreign subsidiaries.

QCD: Time Saving Solution for Test and Measurement

August 2016 – AEP (Applied Engineering Products), a Radiall brand is a recognized leader in the RF coaxial connectors and cable assemblies industry. To expand the existing range of high quality, high performance RF products, AEP and Radiall is proud to announce the release of QCD (Quick Connect - Disconnect).  The new QCD connector solution was developed to support test engineers and reduce the time allocated for setup, calibration and testing of high-density/multi-test point applications.

This new solution features a 26 GHz bayonet style coupling to SMA connector, which provides a single setup while eliminating the need for tooling. By implementing the QDC connector, customers can achieve time savings which results in lower implementation cost.

With consistent and repeatable performance with extended durability/life of the test cables with 5,000 mating cycles, QCD offers customers a perfect connector system for test environments and test and measurement applications.

HEP2R Plating for Harsh Environments

August 2016 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, has developed an innovative plating solution, HEP2R (Harsh Environment Protective Plating by Radiall). This new plating solution, meets the needs of harsh environments within the telecommunication market, where products are exposed to high humidity, hot temperature conditions and corrosive gases.

In order to determine product performance and durability, products undergo ISO 21207 testing to simulate 27 years of exposure in severe traffic environment or industrial environment with salt spray contamination. HEP²R meets ASTM B 117 & ISO 21207 Method B 5 cycle testing and successfully passed ISO 21207 testing by showing no corrosion and very little change in appearance. Due to this and its unique benefits, HEP²R has been recognized within the telecom industry as the preferred plating solution to protect outdoor connectors in high corrosion environments for a long period.

For RF coaxial connectors installed in corrosive environments, where maintaining the products appearance is critical, HEP2R plating is the perfect solution.

4.3-10 Termination & Attenuator series: A high performance microwave solution

This new innovative series features microwave components equipped with 4.3-10 connectors with terminations up to 100W and attenuators up to 15W, for applications such as telecom base station integration and microwave power testing.

This global range includes terminations from low power (2W) up to high power (100W) at 6 GHz maximum frequency. These terminations are compliant with several environmental testing requirements (vibration, shock...) and are IP67 rated. Attenuators are available up to 15W with 6 GHz maximum frequency and are IP65 rated. These unique attenuators feature a robust design which makes them perfectly suited for severe environmental conditions.

This new 4.3-10 terminations & attenuators series is part of Radiall’s global 4.3-10 range which includes a variety of coaxial connectors and all types of microwave components.

It also ensures compatibility with standard SAE-AS-38999 size 11 accessories. The EPXB2 Bulkhead provides permanent sealing between pressurized and non-pressurized areas, in a disconnect application.

Offering the same modularity as the EPX™ series, the EPXB2 Bulkhead receptacle is fully intermateable with all EPXB2 plugs and uses the same broad range of contacts and accessories. Featuring a large range of Bulkhead inserts and a modular design, EPXB2 Bulkhead can optimize density and provide a very competitive solution.

The EPXB2 Bulkhead design offers time savings when terminating connectors due to the wide range of existing EPX™ crimp and PC tail contacts. Signal, power, Quadrax and fiber optics insert arrangements and user-friendly features (front release/rear removable) also help facilitate maintenance on bulkhead connectors.

Qualified according to EN4644, EPXB2 Bulkhead is an extension of EPX™ shells and provides air leakage (16cm3/h) and higher altitude immersion (55,000 feet) than EPXB inserts. Utilizing the same proven technology as the EPX™ series, EPXB2 Bulkhead receptacles provide easy and economical integration in the aircraft BOM.

Expanding its limits- EPXB2 Bulkhead will continuously evolve with the launch of new insert arrangements in upcoming months.

The Q-MTitanTM series is a rugged, compact design and environmentally sealed interconnect solution that can widen optical links in outside of the box applications. This new series is an extension of the successful C-MTitanTM series which is designed for inside the box and PCB applications. All products available within the MTitanTM family feature an innovative design that protects the widely used multichannel MT ferrule.

The compact design of the Q-MTitanTM features 12 or 24 Fibers Optic channels. Q-MTitanTM extends Radiall’s current offering of end-to-end solutions, including D-Lightsys® active components and complex optical harnesses and enables high speed data communication in stringent applications.

The ruggedized design is suitable for military, industrial or hot spot installations where reliable communication is required.

These robust antennas are tested per MIL-STD-810G and can resist vibration, immersion (IP68 rate), temperature and mechanical shock, which allows them to be used for either fixed or on the move applications. The new modular design optimizes performance in gain, radiation and frequency for wireless network applications operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. By offering the perfect combination of high electrical performance and robustness, these new antennas provide reliable coverage for wireless communication.

Low Intermodulation Solution for Telecom Equipment

April 2015 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, eleased the 4.3-10 series, a new lightweight solution suitable for outdoor environments where reliability is required.

Designed to support telecom manufactures for outdoor low intermodulation applications, this new solution expands the existing product portfolio which includes the 4.1-9.5, 7/16 and innovative QLI (Quick Lock Intermodulation) connectors.

The new 4.3-10 connector series is 30% smaller and 60% lighter than the comparable 7/16 square flange jack receptacle. The interface design features a high intermodulation level at -166 dBc and is available in a variety of configurations, including:

  • Jack: square flange, press mount receptacles and bulkhead
  • Plug: straight & right angle
  • Solder, crimp & clamp models
  • Screw-on & push-pull coupling mechanism

4.3-10 is the perfect solution when high performance is essential and low intermodulation is required. The compact design is designed in accordance to International standards and is manufactured to meet environmental safety requirements.

C-MTitanTM is designed for “inside the box” applications and features a cartridge that protects a MT ferrule and improves its performance in stringent applications. With 12 or 24 fibers in such a small package, C-MTitanTM is an extremely dense interconnect solution for high speed data communication.

Radiall offers expanded frequency range up to 50 GHz

January 2015 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, offers an expanded range of product solutions with operating frequencies up to 50 GHz. This range includes 2.4mm precision connectors, bench test cable assemblies and coaxial switches.

Radiall’s 2.4mm precision connectors are ideal interfaces to meet the stringent demands in today’s communication. This line includes both male and female connectors compatible with 2.4mm rigid coaxial airline cables. These 2.4mm connectors are 50 Ohms precision connectors and are designed to operate at extremely high microwave frequencies up to 50 GHz. The connector range is complemented by 2.4mm coaxial male and female terminations featuring high electrical performance and a small form factor.

The expanded TestPro product range features a new 50 GHz bench test cable that sets the standard for high performance measurement cables when flexibility and phase and loss stability is required. Different from standard cable assemblies, TestPro 2 is specially designed for applications that require repeated connect/disconnect test procedures and the ability to withstand strenuous movement and continuous flexing.

A new range of 50GHz coaxial switches fitted with 2.4mm connectors are now available in two versions, SPDT & DP3T with 50GHz external loads. Designed according to the RAMSES modular concept, these various part number configurations are perfectly suited for high frequency equipment especially in “Q” and “V” bands requiring excellent performance relays and reliability.

Radiall is a guest of honor at Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation’s roll-out ceremony 

October 2014 – On October 18, Radiall was invited to attend the roll-out of Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation’s new Heavy Industries’ aircraft, the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), in Japan.

Radiall has been selected to design and manufacture interconnect solutions for the civil aircrafts of this program, which are expected to make their first flights in June 2015. Multipin connectors, fiber optics and radio frequency harnesses will equip the 70 and 90 seat aircrafts.

Our ability to offer a comprehensive solution, the performance of our products and the use of lightweight materials such as PTFE in our cable harnesses were key factors in Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation’s decision to choose us as a preferred supplier” said Mamoru Namioka from Radiall Nihon (Japan), who was present at the roll-out ceremony of the MRJ.

Unveiled in Mitsubishi’s Komaki facility, this civil aircraft marks the return of Japan’s presence in the aerospace market. Mitsubishi has received 223 firm orders and 184 option orders for the MRJ. Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation hopes to cover 50% of the market for regional civilian aircraft by 2020.

The presence of Radiall at this event showcases the French company’s position as a strategic partner for major players in the civil aviation industry.

October 2014 – On September 7, Radiall India won two awards that acknowledge the quality of research work on improving business performance.

During the 23rd Convention on Quality Concepts of QCFI1, organized in Bangalore (India), the Radiall India team was recognized among the 275 participating teams. Radiall expands the TestPro range to include TestPro 2

September 2014 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, announces the new TestPro 2 cable to meet the needs of current industry demands. Ideal for VNAs when flexibility and phase and loss stability is essential, this new 50 GHz bench test cable sets the standard for high performance measurement cables.

Most commonly used in component/assembly shops, labs, automatic test equipment and test benches, test bench cables are provide continuous repeatability and durability are required. Radiall’s full range of RF test cables is suitable for harsh conditions where robustness and performance are essential.

Different from standard cable assemblies, TestPro 2 is specially designed for applications that require repeated connect/disconnect test procedures and the ability to withstand strenuous movement and continuous flexing.

This cost saving solution offers a 50 GHz bench test cable equipped with 2.4mm connectors and provides excellent measurement repeatability and an extended life cycle over flexure.

Radiall’s RF Test Probes Improve RF Testing

July 2014 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, announces production of RF test probes.  Test probes are widely used in the electronics industry for mass production.  However, many times RF connectors are tested separately, which decreases efficiency in testing.

With Radiall’s range of RF Test Probes there is no need to slow down production time for RF testing.  The innovative design of Radiall’s test probes enables the implementation of RF Flying tests to ensure production lines operate at optimal speeds.  The creative design concept of the Radiall RF Test probe increases testing speed, improves access, and provides greater fault coverage.

The performance of these probes makes them ideal for connecting test equipment to Device Under Test (DUT).  The trend in automation equipment for improving efficiency in manufacturing enables manufacturer’s to enjoy maximum throughput by employment of flying RF probes.

Spring contact probes are designed for RF applications with the inner and outer conductors mechanically designed to fit specific RF requirements.  This design allows signals within a wide band to be transmitted with minimum loss.

Radiall RF Test Probe range includes a connector to test SMP male, SMP-MAX male, SMA female, MMBX female, and SMB male.  The concentric design of the spring-loaded inner and outer conductors protects the coaxial conductor against external influences.  The energy between the inner and outer conductors is transferred in a similar fashion to waveguide technology.  The co-axial design concept transfers both alternate and direct currents.

Radiall expands its Quick Mulitpin series with compact QM Size A connectors

March 2014 – Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, introduces QM Size A connectors. The compact design and quick installation feature of QM Size A is suited for in-line disconnect application on commercial airplanes. QM Size A connectors are engineered to meet the most severe aerospace environments.  In response to growing needs for lighter components, QM Size A is a smaller version of QM Size B connectors widely used in the aerospace market today.

QM Size A connectors can be mounted in less than 12 seconds without any specific tools.  One of the key benefits of the connector design is the slide-lock system, which enables easy installation with the use of just fingertips to mate the plug and receptacle shells together in one simple motion.

As the aerospace industry demands lighter components, QM Size A offers a 40% weight savings compared to QM Size B when a smaller insert is required.  In addition, QM Size A was designed to help simplify wiring architecture and provide quick and easy access.  The unique click-on system eliminates a potential source of FOD in aircraft.

The combination of reduced weight, compact size, and intelligent and intuitive design create an ultra light connection requiring only fingertips for quick and easing connector mating.

Radiall launches new line of Low PIM coaxial switches

February 2014 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, proudly launches a new line of Low PIM (Passive Intermodulation) coaxial switches. The rapid growth of 4G/LTE networks has led to the need for better performing Low PIM devices.  As a result, Radiall developed a broad series of switches including the following configurations:  SPDT, DPDT, SP4T, and SP6T.  These configurations are available with either SMA (up to 18 GHz) or N (up to 12.4 GHz) type connectors. 

With over 500 part number configurations available for purchase, these switches offer longer life cycles with 2 million actuations guaranteed, versus the industry average of 1 million cycles.  The combination of part number configurations, long life cycle guarantee, and Low PIM performance make these devices a perfect solution for RF test systems and test benches demanding excellent passive intermodulation performance.

Radiall expands the EPXB2 series with two lightweight solutions

December 2013 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, introduces EPXB2 with M and J plating. Due to growing market demands for weight saving solutions, Radiall has developed EPXB2 with M and J plating as a lightweight alternative to EPXB2 with N plating.

Offering up to a 24% weight saving compared to existing EPXB2 with N plating, EPXB2 with M and J plating is the perfect solution for aircraft manufactures requiring a lightweight solution. They are able to withstand temperatures up to 125°C and 175°C, allowing end users to adapt this solution to the aircraft area where it will be installed. This design concept allows users to choose the most adapted and cost effective solutions and combine weight and cost savings.

EPXB2 with M and J plating are fully intermateable and interchangeable with EPXB2 with N plating and with themselves, using same inserts, accessories and panel mounting. EPXB2 users can integrate one of the alternatives with no additional cost. When less is more – Radiall’s new EPXB2 shells with M and J plating are the best lightweight solution.

The design concept for Radiall’s new high power terminations utilizes mechanical force to restrain the ceramic resistance against the module. This solution improves the life performance of the termination versus common solutions using compound or crimp. November 2013 – Applied Engineering Products, now Radiall New Haven, is proud to celebrate 40 years of service. Applied Engineering Products, more commonly known as AEP, was established by Ben Trivelli in 1973 in Ansonia, Connecticut. It has been in New Haven since 1981.  In June 1989, AEP moved to a custom-built facility in the Fair Haven section of New Haven and was further expanded in 2001.

Since 1973, AEP has taken great pride in fostering strong vendor and customer relationships. The facility offers top of the line equipment, manufacturing the widest range of coaxial interconnects solutions in the RF industry. Specializing in coaxial connectors and RF cable assemblies, both AEP and Radiall have always shared the goal of providing excellent customer service, and strong quality products to meet the demands of customers.

PIERRE GATTAZ ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF THE MEDEF

August 2013 - On 3 July 2013, Pierre Gattaz, Chairman of the Executive Board of Radiall, was elected President of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (Medef – French Business Confederation). During his 5 year term in office, he will remain Chairman of the Executive Board of Radiall as well as President of its Executive and Strategic Committee.

Radiall introduces the new QLI Connector with a bayonet locking mechanism providing a Quick Lock with Low Intermodulation (QLI)

June 2013 - Radiall, a global leader in design, development and manufacturing of innovative interconnect solutions, introduces the new innovative connection – QLI. With the QLI, Radiall introduces a new solution for harsh environments, where performance and safety are critical.

QLI connectors are designed to provide performance similar to DIN 7/16 with a very low intermodulation level. Radiall’s QLI connector employs the proven bayonet concept for secure connections. The QLI concept enables quick installation requiring no tools, and can be accomplished with one hand. The reduced footprint (compared to 7/16 series) allows for use in high density applications.

The QLI is double sealed, and includes a special anti-corrosion and watertight plating. The advantage of QLI’s double sealing allows for use outdoors without any additional protective skin (electrical insulation putty or adhesive tape). These features make this connector the best choice for outdoor installations and indoor applications where the best performance is required.

QLI connectors are available in many variations including: plugs, jacks, straight or right angles, square sockets & bulkhead models. This new compact design is perfectly suited for applications that require high density integration.

Radiall and CINCH Connectors Sign a Cross Licensing Agreement during Paris Airshow

June 21, 2013 - Radiall SA and Cinch Connectors Inc announced at the Paris Airshow that they have entered into a cross licensing agreement covering their respective technologies for the EPX® fiber optics connector range and EBOSA fiber optic termini.

EBOSA expanded beam is a market leading fiber optic technology for harsh environments. Radiall's EPX® connector range is the industry leading rectangular connector series with major applications in commercial aviation (EN4644 standard) and widely used on the latest generation aircraft.

Cinch Connectors Inc and Radiall SA will coordinate efforts to further standardize the EBOSA product range and to develop additional applications for the EPX® connector series.

This agreement confirms both companies’ working relationship aimed at offering compatible and innovative solutions to the commercial aerospace industry while also providing a true dual source for secure supply.

Offered with a limited number of receptacles and straight or right-angle plugs for standard cables, SMP-LOCK® connectors can be easily customized to fit preferred cable types or to meet the needs of specific microwave modules. They have been specially designed for harsh environments and to withstand severe vibration and drop tests.

SMP-LOCK® connectors are suitable for cable-to-cable or cable-to-module interconnections inside equipment subject to harsh mechanical stress such as airborne radars, avionics, satellites, missile, and UAV and UGV applications. For high-density PCB or panel layouts, an extraction tool is available to ease the connect/disconnect operations.  SMP-LOCK® plugs are compatible with most standard SMP receptacles in the unlocked position, with the exception of catcher’s mitt type.

The addition of an innovative locking mechanism to the SMP interface makes it less vulnerable to the most demanding vibration and shock requirements. With SMP-LOCK®, the retention force of the connector when locked is specified at 450N with .085’ semi-rigid cable. This level of retention is 10 times more than with standard SMP full detent interface! The actual force required to break apart male and female connectors when locked is extremely high and has been measured at 1500 N. This is the highest in the industry for this type of micro-miniature connector making SMP-LOCK® the perfect solution when extreme vibration and shock impact equipment.

Tempe, AZ – September 2012 - Radiall, a global leader in multipin connectors and interconnect devices introduces the new RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances) Arinc 600. When the European RoHS directive was enforced in 2006, military and aerospace markets were part of the exemptions listed. However, Radiall maintained a strong commitment to its customers and the environment by implementing RoHS initiatives within its R&D.  Due to this philosophy Radiall is prepared to meet the need for RoHS products, which is now one of leading aircraft manufacturers critical requirements worldwide.

Based on the common usage of the Arinc 600, Radiall developed a product formerly using Alodine and made it RoHS compliant, while maintaining the same performance. The main objectives for Radiall included:

  • Finding a RoHS chromatation while maintaining Arinc 600 performance
  • Ensuring compatibility with existing Alodine connectors in avionic bays
  • Offering the most cost effective solution to our customers

This process lead Radiall to a unique solution named Surtec 650V that is QPL qualified per MIL-DTL-81706B type II, class 3. This standard specifies chemical conversion on aluminum alloy. Surtec 650V is free of hexavalent chromium which is part of the substances banned by RoHS directive. This solution also provides a unique colorful layer (blue-grey) which helps identifying RoHS and non RoHS connectors on the same production line.

As a leader in rack and panel connectors, Radiall entirely defined and validated the RoHS industrial process to have complete control over the products in mass production. This high quality approach allowed us to be the first manufacturer to fully qualify RoHS models according to the Arinc 600 standard.

The new RoHS Arinc 600 is further proof of Radiall’s commitment to the environment and its customers. With the addition of the RoHS Arinc 600 connector, seven out of nine multipin series are fully compliant with RoHS requirements.

Radiall Expands Its Non-Magnetic Connector Line with MCX Interface 11.01.11

Low Susceptibility and High Vibration Resistance for Better Image Quality

Chandler, Arizona – November, 2011 – Radiall USA, Inc. has released non-magnetic versions of its MCX line of miniature coaxial connectors. With a frequency range from DC to 6 GHz, the non-magnetic connectors’ small size makes them well suited to newer, compact magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment for hands, feet, or knees where space is at a premium. The non-magnetic materials mean the connectors do not distort the magnetic field produced by the coils which allows higher signal-to-noise ratios and higher image quality.

The connectors use low permittivity materials to achieve a magnetic susceptibility of 10-5, about three orders of magnitude lower than brass/nickel connectors (10-2)—resulting in extremely low distortion of the magnetic fields.

The non-magnetic MCX line includes straight and right-angle board-mount receptacles and cable-mount plugs for RG-178 and RG-316 cable. Plug connectors are available with limited or full detents. For high-vibration environments characteristic of MRI machines, full-detent plugs maintain excellent electrical and mechanical performance. The connectors meet the vibration requirements of EIA-364-28 with 20 g at 2000 Hz in Highly Accelerated Aging Tests (equivalent to MIL-STD-202, Method 204, Condition D).

The non-magnetic MCX line joins Radiall’s growing range of non-magnetic connectors for medical, space, and other applications that include MMCX, SMP, SMA, and SMB interfaces.

Chandler, Arizona, May 26, 2010 – Radiall USA, Inc., expands its microminiature coaxial product line with new cost-effective MML Series connector solutions that include plugs, receptacles, jacks, adapters, pigtails and cables assemblies. They address the market demand for smaller miniaturized connectors for applications such as Wi-Fi access points, GPS and other mobile terminals.

The MML Series features two types of  PCB receptacles and three corresponding types of space saving plugs with mated heights of 2.5 mm, 2.0 mm and 1.5 mm. They also have an operating frequency range of DC-6 GHz and a typical VSWR of 1.35.

Chandler, Arizona – May 18, 2011 – Radiall USA, Inc., is proud to introduce the addition of its new high-performance and robust BMR-Spring large misalignment board-to-board connectors to their extensive offering of cost-effective subminiature RF coaxial solutions. Radiall BMR-Spring connectors can handle a minimum board-to-board or rack and panel distance tolerance of at least 0.078” (2 mm) with custom misalignment of 3 mm or more. It also features a 6 degree tilt radial travel.  It has an operating frequency range of DC-8 GHz, a 1.1 max VSWR guaranteed up to 3 GHz, and it can handle up to 350 watts of power at 2.7 GHz.

The Radiall BMR-Spring adapter features a unique non-slotted spherical interface for improved electrical performance, high vibration and shock resistance, and an 80dB of shielding up to 3 GHz. A self-alignment mechanism makes the BMR-Spring particularly ruggedized for blind-mate applications. The spring-loaded adapters are symmetrical to avoid any assembly issues.

A typical BMR-Spring board-to-board system is made of three parts – slide-on receptacle, symmetrical adapter and snap-on receptacle. Custom configurations are also available for board-to-board, module-to-module, or rack and panel applications.

Radiall Announces OSIS Licensing Agreement with Molex 03.11.11

Molex QMD Available Through a Licensing Agreement with Radiall

Paris, France – March 11, 2011 – Radiall SA is pleased to announce the official launch of OSIS: the One Step Interconnect Solution.  OSIS was designed in continuity with R2CT to supplement our product range for FTTA applications (Fiber To The Antenna) in a new generation of base stations. Specifically designed to withstand the harsh environments of outdoor conditions, OSIS answers to the need of the customers to get a fast and easy-to-use waterproof fiber optic connection system as a solution for high density of fiber optic links.

The OSIS plug kit assembles without tools in the field conditions over existing optical patch cords and is compatible with a large range of LC connectors and SFP transceivers. Sealing levels are IP65, with IP67 optionally available, with a durability of 100 mating cycles minimum and a temperature range from -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C. The mated connection has a retention force of 200 N (45 lb).

Molex brings the Quick Mate Duplex (QMD) solution to its customers through a licensing agreement with Radiall SA for its next generation One Step Interconnect Solution (OSIS) fiber to the antenna interconnect technology, insuring full interoperability of both manufacturer’s product offerings.  “We are happy to share our OSIS connector technology with Molex to offer customers dual source solutions that are fully interchangeable with both OSIS and QMD solutions,” said Marnix van der Mee, Business Development Unit Director for Radiall. The agreement expands the ruggedized connector offering by Molex with a product that provides performance advantages over those previously deployed.  The Molex QMD solution will be supplied as part of a factory assembled and tested cable assembly or as a connector kit that can be applied to a customer built cable assembly or an existing on-site assembly. 

The OSIS by Radiall has been developed for antenna fiber optic links in a new generation of telecommunication applications such as 3G, 4G, WIMAX, CDMA or LTE.  Many major OEMs are very pleased and optimistic about the implementation of OSIS.  The primary application is for Telecom use, but it can also be used in other markets such as transportation, industrial and military.

Chandler, Arizona – March 10, 2011 – Radiall USA, Inc. announces the expansion of its RAMSES R570 Coaxial Relay Series with a new 50 GHz SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) switch featuring three 2.4 mm connectors. Designed for the instrumentation market, the RAMSES SPDT Switch is ideal for precision requirements in test and measurement applications where high frequency and excellent RF performance are necessary.

The Radiall Modular System for Electromechanical Switches (RAMSES) is a patented technology that enables microwave coaxial switches to be produced with a typical operating life of ten million cycles without a decrease in contact resistance reliability over time. Most competitive products can only achieve one million cycles. In addition, the unique internal construction makes the switches modular, which reduces the cost and lead time.

All RAMSES configurations are applicable to the 50 GHz SPDT Switch and are now available with failsafe or latching versions, 12 or 28 volts and three 2.4 mm connectors. Other additional options include – TTL driver, self cutoff and indicators.

Radiall’s Innovative Contact Design Lowers the Costs of ARINC 600 Connectors 12.10.10

Chandler, AZ, Dec. 10, 2010—Aimed at helping manufacturers achieve costs reductions, the new Radiall NSX series Size 22 socket contact helps reduce the cost of ARINC 600 connectors. Because of the large number of contacts in many ARINC 600 connectors, any reduction in contact costs can significantly affect the overall connector costs. The contact combines a stamped and rolled clip inside a screw machined body. Use of stamped and rolled parts considerably reduces the manufacturing complexity—and the cost—of the contacts. The PC tail contacts are completely intermateable with existing ARINC 600 plug connectors, are compatible with existing pc board layouts, and are fully qualified under ARINC 600 specifications.

The stamped and rolled clip provides low insertion force and low electrical resistance through the use of three points of electrical contact, in contrast to the two points of traditional screw machined contacts. The new design also avoids stubbing since the three spring center the pin during mating.

The clip members are  plated with 50 microinches of gold, with flash gold on the contact body to eliminate tin-lead and achieve RoHS compatibility.

In addition to the contact, a new one-piece insert offers additional cost reductions by replacing the traditional two-piece design and eliminating the complex manufacturing and assembly. Inserts are supplied filled with nonremovable contacts to customer specifications; empty cavities can also be loaded later. The new Radiall NSX contacts are also available in a removable version for use with existing two-piece inserts.

The R2CT connection kit can easily be used with other connectors and interfaces, such as RJ-45 or USB connections.

Radiall Licenses Molex as Second Source for SMP-MAX Board-to-Board Connectors 04.22.10

Chandler, Arizona and Lisle, Illinois – April 22, 2010 – Radiall and Molex Incorporated have announced that Molex is now a licensed second source for Radiall SMP-MAX board-to-board coaxial connectors. As a second source, Molex will manufacture and market the connectors.

The SMP-MAX connector line offers the most cost-effective large misalignment tolerance in the industry, making it simpler and more reliable to make connections even in blind-mate applications. They address the most demanding wireless telecom applications required for the new generation of infrastructure compact equipment such as base stations or handheld devices. 

New SMP-MAX features a patented impedance-matching insulator that is optimized for a larger operating gap between connectors, making it capable of handling a maximum board-to-board tilt (radial travel) of 3 degrees, and up to at least 0.078" (2 mm) of distance (axial) misalignment without a spring—which is 300 percent more than the standard SMP. The connectors have an operating frequency range of DC-6 GHz, a 1.2 max VSWR guaranteed up to 3 GHz, and power handling of up to 300 watts at 2.7 GHz.

Ideal for Broadcast Transmission System Applications

Chandler, Arizona, January 4, 2010 – Radiall USA, Inc., introduces its new “True” BNC 75 ohm HDTV Coaxial Connector Series that can handle data rates up to 3 Gbps or higher while supporting the broadcast industry’s SMPTE 292M and 424M standards. These connectors feature gold plated center and outer contacts, which provide outstanding electrical performance with a frequency range of up to 6 GHz, optimized at 3 GHz. In addition, they are intermateable with standard 50 and 75 ohm BNC products, offer better mechanical performance and durability with 1000 mating cycles guaranteed. Connectors are also easily field installable on most coaxial cables using hand-crimping tools and have colored cable boots available for easy coding of video signals.

Chandler, Arizona, August 12, 2009 – Radiall USA, Inc., announces the expansion of its QMA product line with new high density RF coaxial Waterproof QMA (WQMA) connector solutions with fast and easy snap-on Quick Lock technology.  They offer outstanding electrical performance and have environmental characteristics that provide for long lasting durability needed for the most demanding harsh outdoor applications thus eliminating the need for costly and bulky watertight enclosures or cable entries.

WQMA connectors are an alternative to traditional SMA connectors for applications up to 6 GHz and provide high density and quick connections within and to RF modules. In addition, WQMA connectors are fully intermateable and backward compatible with any QLF® certified standard QMA jack and they provide for excellent ingress protection that are IP68 rating when mated. They are RoHS compliant and have an enhanced corrosion resistance and feature 100 matings minimum for durability, a full range of straight and right angle options, a wide temperature range -40° C / +105° C and a power rating 200W @ 1 GHz, 75° C.
