Can Your Radar Tell the Difference?
Radar technology is rapidly evolving and Radiall has the expertise and experience to give your radar the technological advantage.
In order to discern different targets, radar software must have the most precise signal possible. Radar precision has two basic variables inside the system: loss and noise. These values are the enemies of precise target discernment.
Radiall’s expert RF engineers have designed the IMP-SR. This board-to-board connector has half the loss (.5 dB vs. 1 dB in the X-band) and 20% less noise (VSWR/system noise temperature).
The performance separation continues as frequency increases. The IMP-SR stays under 1 dB of loss up to 67 GHz, while the closest competitor is still double that amount, losing -2 dB or nearly 40% of the signal. IMP-SR is designed to perform at higher frequencies up to and including mm-wave and performs best in the Ka band.
IMP-SR part numbers: R107825000, 010, 020; R107838000
Phase noise in radar is instability in the signal oscillation inside the system. In some cases, wanted signals can be hidden by phase noise and targets could be missed or miscalculated. Through collaboration with radar designers, Radiall has found a way to reduce phase noise caused by interconnects. The new IMP-HD low phase noise uses a special machining and plating procedure which significantly reduces phase noise up to Ku Band and performs best in C and X bands.

Adding radar range depends on two basic variables: peak power (Pt) and antenna gain (G).
While Radiall doesn’t market radar antennas (yet), our designers have come up with board-to-board interconnects that can handle more power for extended range. The Power-Max and Ultra-Max connector product lines are designed to dissipate heat much more effectively and can handle up to double the power of legacy board-to-board connectors. Designed to perform best in the S Band, Ultra-Max can handle 220 watts continuous and up to 1,000 watts pulsed on a normal radar duty cycle.
Ultra-MAX part numbers: EPS2014-10, -12, -16
