LuxCis: Optical solution chosen for the new ARINC 801Standard
The LuxCis contact is the new generation of high density low cost fiber optic butt joint physical contact. Through its selection for the ARINC 801 standard it has become THE concept retained by the onboard equipment manufacturers for AERO applications.
LuxCis terminus is based on a standard 1.25mm ceramic ferrule and sleeve and is compatible with standard LC polishing process. The termini is a full pull-proof design: the cable jacket is crimped on the external body; a floating mechanism avoids any loss of contact when pulling on the cable. This feature, which is available only with a semi-loose cable jacket, allows to use the LuxCis termini without a connector backshell.
The insertion loss (IEC 61300-3-4 method B) for singlemode is around 0.10dB and max. of 0.45dB, for multimode around 0.07 dB and max 0.32dB. The return loss is, according to the IEC 61300-3-6 standard, >50dB PC and >60dB APC for singlemode and for multimode >20dB.
